Frank Chester Jordan (April 3, 1860 – January 18, 1940) was the 20th Secretary of State of California, serving eight terms from 1911 until his death in 1940.[1] At the time of his death, he was the longest-serving state official in the nation.[2] His son, Frank M. Jordan, was elected to succeed him in 1942, the first man in the history of California to be elected to succeed his father in a state constitutional office.[3]
