Its first train arrived on 10 September 1889[1] and the last one departed on 20 May 1981.[2] In 1989, the old station site was sold by the state government and had a shopping centre built on the site.[3] On 19 September 2004, a plaque was unveiled adjacent to the site to commemorate 150 years of rail in Victoria.[2]
