Wołowiec [vɔˈwɔvjɛt͡s] (German: Döringshagen) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Nowogard, within Goleniów County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland.[1] It lies approximately 12 km (7 mi) north of Nowogard, 33 km (21 mi) north-east of Goleniów, and 55 km (34 mi) north-east of the regional capital Szczecin.
History
The suffix -hagen of the historic village name is typical for settlements founded by Germans during Medieval Ostsiedlung.[2] For the history of the region, see History of Pomerania.
