The 1978–79 season was the 9th season of Paris Saint-Germain FC.[1] PSG played most of their home league matches at the Parc des Princes, but also twice at the Stade Bauer, with an average attendance of 18,550 spectators per match.[1][2] The club's president was Francis Borelli.[1] The team's manager was player-coach Jean-Michel Larqué until August 1978, when Pierre Alonzo took over. Alonzo was replaced by Velibor Vasović in November 1978.[1][3][4] Dominique Bathenay was the team captain.[5] PSG finished 13th in Division 1 and reached the round of 32 of the Coupe de France. Carlos Bianchi was the club's top scorer this season with 32 goals, 27 of them in the league.[1]
